Hands: a means of contact and communication given in friendship, expressing connection, care and support. With touch a powerful metaphor in conveying meaning and warmth, gestures can show strength, power and protection. The subtle orientation and finger positions in the ‘Hand in the Sand’ artwork seek to convey openness and trust.
